Improving safety and activity options at the public Uuesalu BMX centre
BMX Tallinn MTÜ’s project “Improving safety and activity options at the public Uuesalu BMX centre” is carried out under the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027 intervention “LEADER – community-led development”.
The aim is to make the public BMX centre in Uuesalu a safer, better place to spend free time. The project builds on the existing facilities to improve conditions for everyday activity, training and races.
An asphalt training and warm-up area – a sprint straight – is being built next to the track, where riders can practise speed and bike handling away from the main track. Pergolas on the start hill will shelter riders from sun, wind and rain. The club is also buying BMX bikes in different sizes and protective gear, so that children and young people without their own equipment can try BMX racing. The centre’s power supply is being upgraded as well.
As a result, the Uuesalu BMX centre becomes a more complete and versatile place where both beginners and experienced riders can be active safely. The new options help bring more children and young people to BMX racing, run trial sessions and use the centre in more ways.
The wider goal is to contribute to the living environment of Rae Parish and give local children, young people and families a quality way to stay active close to home. The project is also supported by Balcia insurance. The Uuesalu BMX centre is open to the public, and its development relies on a strong community and cooperation with many partners.
Project year: 2026. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
