BMX Tallinn MTÜ is a community-based Olympic sports club that in three years has grown into one of the largest BMX racing clubs in Estonia and one of the most recognised youth sports organisations in Harju County.
Our goal is to develop BMX racing – an Olympic sport that combines speed, precision and courage – and bring it closer to young people, families, the community and all sports fans in Estonia.
A club and a track built by the community
BMX Tallinn was founded in October 2022 to bring together people who love BMX racing, to create good training conditions for our riders, to develop this exciting Olympic sport in Estonia and to encourage young people to spend more time outdoors on their bikes. BMX racing is still a young and fast-growing sport in Estonia, raced on a 300–400 metre technical track on special 20-inch bikes.
A group of parents who founded BMX Tallinn decided to build their own BMX racing track in Rae Parish. Today Uuesalu village is home to the largest and most modern public BMX track in Estonia – a lit, maintained training centre open to everyone, built thanks to the community, volunteers, parents and supporters.
Our members have been active in BMX racing since 2016, when the first BMX track in Harju County opened. As there were no coaches, officials or organisers in Estonia at the time, the parents learned these skills themselves. Today they are experienced coaches, track builders, cycling officials and sports leaders, and BMX Tallinn’s development rests on their knowledge.
Competitive sport and the next generation
BMX Tallinn has grown into the largest BMX racing family in Estonia – our community has more than a hundred people, from beginners to top athletes (including nearly 40 riders in structured training), coaches, officials, volunteers and parents. Our athletes race in the Estonian Championships and the Estonian BMX Cup, as well as abroad and in international events.
Our training combines physical and mental development – besides technique, our coaches focus on confidence, discipline and team spirit. On the track our riders learn focus, perseverance and resilience – qualities that last a lifetime.

International and community events
BMX Tallinn leads the way in developing BMX racing in Estonia – we organise rounds of the Estonian Championships and the Estonian Cup, as well as high-level international races. We also run open training days, courses and community events to bring kids and families to an active lifestyle, introduce the Olympic sport and raise awareness of road safety and healthy habits.
Our events are always more than races – they are where new friendships are made, confidence grows and the community gets stronger.
Why we do what we do
BMX Tallinn is not just a sports club but a close and genuine community brought together by a love of BMX racing. The sport brings families together and creates bonds that go beyond the track – we build, organise, cheer and celebrate together. We believe sport can change lives – teaching focus, responsibility and the joy of effort. Every child who comes to the track learns more than riding a bike – they learn how to fall and get back up.
We want BMX racing to be accessible to every child and young person in Estonia, and this great Olympic sport to be known in every corner of the country. BMX Tallinn – Olympic sport, community and a passion that connects generations.

What is BMX racing?
BMX racing is an exciting cycling sport that reached Estonia in the late 1990s. Riders race on a short track full of jumps, corners and obstacles on specially designed BMX bikes. It is dynamic and demands skill and speed.
BMX was born in the early 1970s in the United States, where young boys tried to copy their motocross idols. Since few could afford a motorbike, they raced ordinary bicycles on tracks they built themselves. The sport soon spread across America and then to Europe and the rest of the world.
